Use "To the nearest string" stakeout to provide a current chainage relative to a roads main alignment but offset and cut/fill position relative to a string on an XML design file. Cut/Fill information can be displayed relative to the main alignment and a selected surface (if any).
1. Select General Survey
2. Select the Roads App
3. Using the layer manager, make selectable all relevant design data: control, xml files, surfaces.
4. After starting the job select the main alignment from the map screen and tap stakeout.

5. Select “To the nearest string” from the resulting page and add Horizontal and Vertical construction offsets if required and select Start.
6. Once stakeout is initiated, Chainage is displayed relative to the main alignment, offset and vertical distance relative to the nearest string are displayed. The nearest string and its values are updated as the target moves.
7. Tap and hold in the information panel to add or remove delta display options.
8. Select the required deltas from the list. Press Accept.
9. The new deltas will be displayed.
10. Once this position has been staked or you would like to record an observation, select Accept at the bottom of the measurement screen to open the Confirm Staked Deltas screen. Use this information to mark up stakes and select Store to store the observation.
Note: Select options at the bottom of the measurement screen to choose between multiple Staked Deltas formats, as well as As-staked code information, stakeout graphics options, cut/fill display options and DTM selection and offsets. Any changes in this screen can be saved to a Survey Style for future use.
